Funeral services for Katie Waverek, 39 year old long time Buffalo resident who passed away suddenly September 7^th in Johnson City, Tennessee, due to complications of childbirth will be held Wednesday, September 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the Big Horn Baptist Church in Buffalo with Pastor Don Paulson officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo.  A private family interment will take place later. Donations in Katie’s memory may be made to the Katie Waverek Memorial, a fund set up to help with expenses for her and her newborn son, Noah. Katherine Ann Waverek was born on June 6, 1982 in Sheridan, Wyoming to Jamie and Mary (Gale) Kelly and lived in Buffalo until she was five.  She grew up and went to school in Zionsville, Indiana and graduated from Zionsville high school with the class of 2001.  After high school she attended Indiana University for two years.  She moved back to Buffalo, Wyoming in 2005 where she worked for The American National Bank. She was married to Eddy Foust in June of 2009 and they made their home in Buffalo and Katie worked for Ed’s Body Shop. During this time Katie completed EMT training and worked part time for Buffalo EMS as an Advanced EMT. She also worked as a CNA for the Johnson County Health Care Center and did home health care. Eddy and Katie divorced in 2019 and Katie continued living in Buffalo.  She was married to Craig Waverek on January 12, 2020 and they made their home in Buffalo.  Along with her EMS job Katie worked for The Cotant Family Dental Practice. Looking for a new chapter in their lives Katie and Craig most recently moved to Johnson City, Tennessee where they were imminently expecting their first child.

Katie enjoyed camping and hiking, game nights with friends, cards with her mom.  She liked coloring Bible Verses. Katie’s passion was helping and she helped anyone who needed a hand doing just about anything.  As an Advanced EMT she was solely responsible for saving several lives. Katie was a much beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband Craig of Johnson City, Tennessee; one son Noah Waverek also of Johnson City; her parents Jamie and Mary Kelly of Zionsville, Indiana; two brothers, Kenny Didier and his wife Sarah of Green Bay, Wisconsin and Josh Kelly and his wife Katie of Zionsville, Indiana; two uncles, Bob Kelly and his wife Debbie of Casper, Wyoming and John Gale of Glenview, Illinois; one aunt, Connie Basher and her husband Herb of Casper, Wyoming and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
