Deloris Siebert
Former longtime Sheridan resident Deloris Siebert passed away on April 22 in Billings, Montana, where she had resided since 2013. She was born on February 7, 1936, on the family farm near Elgin, North Dakota, to Frank and Rosina Leithold.
Deloris graduated from Elgin High School in 1954. Shortly thereafter, she moved to Sheridan to help her sister and brother‑in‑law, Helen and Al, with their two young daughters. When Al’s job transferred the family to Minot, North Dakota, Deloris followed, and it was there she met John E. Siebert, a coworker of Al’s. Deloris and John were married in Minot on March 24, 1956.
Two years later, they welcomed their first daughter, Mitzi. The young family moved among various job sites in North Dakota and Montana, and while living in Glasgow, Montana, their second daughter, Colleen, was born. In 1966, John was promoted to District Manager, and the family relocated to Sheridan, Wyoming, where they made their long‑term home.
While living in Sheridan, Deloris was actively involved in Girl Scouts, Trinity Lutheran Church Women’s Group, Bible study, P.E.O., the Soup Kitchen, and a coffee club with the Kiegals. She was an accomplished seamstress who sewed many of her daughters’ school clothes and was known as an exceptionally good cook who enjoyed trying new recipes.
After John’s retirement, the couple traveled extensively with friends, including the Wyoming Wayfarers, as well as on their own.
Deloris was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 2020; her parents; four sisters; and five brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Mitzi Siebert (Joel Paulsen) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Colleen Hornay (David) of Sheridan, Wyoming; granddaughters Alyssa Yeik (Travis) of Sheridan, Wyoming, and Tennille Tong (Quyen) of Midlothian, Texas; two great-grandsons, Hudson Tong and Lochlan Yeik; a future great-grandson, Baby Tong, expected in September; step-grandsons Jon Paulsen (LeAnn) of Austin, Texas, and Jeff Paulson (Jennifer) of Placitas, New Mexico; and step great-grandchildren Allie Paulsen and Beckett Paulsen.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at St. John’s United for the loving care they provided to Deloris through the years. A memorial service will be held on May 18 at 11 a.m. at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 4125 Grand Avenue, Billings, Montana. Smith Funeral Chapels has been entrusted with arrangements.
