High School Basketball: The High School Basketball season starts on Thursday, December 7th.
Last year, the Sheridan girls went 15-11 and made it to the state tournament semi-finals.
Coach Ryan Sullivan says this year’s team is going to have some depth and that could pay off down the road.
Sheridan is scheduled to play next week Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Riverton against various opponents.
Big Horn and Tongue River will start their seasons next weekend at Burns, while Arvada-Clearmont will open up at Upton.
Eight Univ. of Wyoming Football Players Earn Post-Season Conference Honors: Post-season accolades have been given out and 8 Wyoming Cowboys were given honors for their play this season.
For the second year in a row linebacker Easton Gibbs was named to the All Mountain West First Team.
This season he averaged 8.8 tackles per game which is 4th in the conference and 29th in the nation.
He currently has 359 career tackles which is currently 8th in Poke history.
Joining Gibbs on the first team is offensive tackle Frank Crum.
On the second team is defensive lineman Jordan Bertagnole.
Five other UW Football players earned honorable mention…they were Free Safety Wyett Ekeler, quarterback Andrew Peasley, running back Harrison Waylee, tight end Treyton Welch, and wide receiver Wyatt Wieland.
The Pokes are now waiting to hear word on a bowl invitation which should be announced this coming Sunday.
Univ. Of Wyoming Basketball: The Wyoming Cowgirls gave BYU their first loss of the season last night…winning 86-to-74.
UW had an 11-point lead early in the 4th quarter, but then the Lady Cougars went on a 17-5 run to take a 1-point advantage with 4:21 to go, but then the Cowgirls answered with a 14-2 run of their own to take control for good.
Malene Pedersen led the way with 19 points while McKinley Dickerson came off the bench to put in 17.
Wyoming is now 4-2 on the season.
Their next game is this Sunday at Oklahoma State.
Meanwhile, the Wyoming Cowboys are back on the court on Friday at the University of Portland.
Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks are looking to build some momentum following their weekend sweep of Cody.
The team is home again this weekend vs. Rapid City.
The puck drops at 7:30pm on both Friday and Saturday.
