The Wyoming High School Basketball Season has reached the halfway point and some big games have already been played.

Sheridan HS Basketball: The Sheridan boys easily won both home games this past weekend vs. Laramie and Cheyenne South, to improve their record to 11-1 on the season.

The Sheridan girls split, winning against Cheyenne South.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs are at home this coming Friday vs. Campbell County, and also play on Saturday at Thunder Basin.


Big Horn/Tongue River/Arvada-Clearmont HS Basketball: Big Horn won both games at home vs. Sundance back on Saturday.

The Rams and Lady Rams are on the road Friday against Wright and visit Rocky Mountain on Saturday.

The Tongue River girls won both home games over the weekend vs. 3A Newcastle as well as against Wright, while the boys dropped both contests.

The Eagles and Lady Eagles are next scheduled to play Friday at home vs. Moorcroft and on Saturday at Greybull.

Both the Arvada-Clearmont boys and girls lost games at Upton and at home vs. Hulett.

The Panthers and Lady Panthers next play tomorrow at home against the Buffalo Freshman team, as well as Friday at home vs. Casper Christian.

The boys play another game on Saturday at Ten Sleep.


Johnson County HS Basketball: The Buffalo boys and girls teams won games vs. Glenrock and Newcastle.

They will next play on Friday at Powell and on Saturday at home vs. Worland.

Kaycee lost a home double-header on Saturday at home vs. Upton.

The Buckaroos and Lady Bucs next play on Friday at Hulett and on Saturday at Upton.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Wrestling: The Sheridan boys placed 6th and the girls were 3rd at the Moorcroft Invitational this past weekend.

Keegan Rager, Braxten Crow and Searney O’Brien each finished 1st in their respective weight classes.

This week is Ron Thon in Riverton, which is considered to be a preview of the state meet.

The girls compete on Thursday and Friday, while the boys will have their turn on Friday and Saturday.

The Sheridan boys will also compete in a dual at Kelly Walsh on Thursday.


Sheridan/Buffalo HS Boys Swimming and Diving: Buffalo placed 3rd and Sheridan was 5th at the Kelly Walsh Invitational this past weekend.

The Broncs will compete in their home finale tomorrow, in a double dual meet vs. both Gillette teams.

The Bison will host their own invite this coming weekend.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Indoor Track and Field: The Sheridan boys placed 1st and the girls 4th out of 18 teams at a meet in Gillette this past weekend.

Cole Bunting of Sheridan won the boys pole vault event, while Rio Hernandez of Big Horn won the boys 400 meter dash.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs will return to Gillette to compete again, this coming Thursday.


Sheridan Hawk/Lady Hawk Amateur Hockey: The Sheridan Hawk boys lost both games this past weekend in Casper against the Oilers’ A-League Team.

Sheridan next plays Friday night and Saturday morning at Cody, and will then return to play their regular season home finale on Saturday night and Sunday morning vs. Laramie.

The Sheridan Lady Hawks won both games at Miles City, Montana and at home vs. Gillette over the weekend.

The team next plays Saturday night and Sunday morning also at home vs. Laramie.


University of Wyoming Men’s and Women’s Basketball: The Wyoming Cowboys won this past Saturday at home vs. San Jose State 66-62.

Free throws made the difference, as the Pokes were 24 of 27 from the charity stripe.

Four Cowboys scored in double figures.

Damarion Dennis came off the bench to lead the way with 16.

Gavin Gores put in 15, while Leland Walker contributed with 13 and Khaden Bennett put in 11.

The Brown and Gold are now 12-8 on the season and have a 3-6 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team next plays on Wednesday at Utah State.

The Wyoming Cowgirls won their 3rd game in a row, thanks to a 74-56 win on Saturday at Utah State.

The ladies shot better than 57% from the field and 50% from 3-point land.

Malene Pedersen led the way with 17 points.

Jane Rumpf contributed with 16, Aurore Eyango came off the bench to score 13 and Logann Alvar added a dozen.

The Cowgirls are now 7-12 on the season and have a 4-6 record in the Mountain West Conference.

The team is next scheduled to play this coming Wednesday at home vs. Fresno State.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos came up short in their quest to play in the Super Bowl.

The team lost at home yesterday in the AFC Championship Game against New England 10-7.

Denver scored on their 2nd offensive series, but couldn’t do much after that, as defense dominated most of the game for both teams.

The Patriots advance to play Seattle in Super Bowl 60 on Sunday, February 8th, in Santa Clara, California.


Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won on Friday at Milwaukee 102-100.

Yesterday’s game at Memphis was postponed due to the weather.

The Nuggets are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Detroit.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost on Friday at home vs. Philadelphia 7-3, but won yesterday at Toronto 4-1.

The Avs are next scheduled to play on Wednesday at Ottawa.
