Sheridan HS Football: The Sheridan High School Football team got the challenge they were looking for and prevailed this past Friday at Cheyenne East, 27-20.

Beck Haswell ran for 2 touchdowns and threw 1, while Breck Reed caught 2 TD tosses.

Broncs Head Coach Jeff Mowry says the Thunderbirds did a few things that were unexpected, but he’s pleased with how the team managed.

Sheridan is back on the road this Friday at Kelly Walsh.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6pm.


Big Horn/Tongue River HS Football: Big Horn scored at will and cruised to a 60-22 win at Newcastle.

The Rams return home this Friday vs. Burns, beginning at 1pm.

Tongue River was doubled up at Moorcroft on Friday, losing 26-13.

The Eagles are home this coming Friday vs. Newcastle, starting at 6pm.


Johnson County HS Football: Buffalo got clobbered at home by Cody 63-9.

The Bison start 3A East Conference play this Friday at home vs. Rawlins.

Kaycee won their first game of the year winning at Midwest on Saturday 41-32.

The Buckaroos are home this Friday afternoon against Riverside.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: Sheridan split home games against 4A East Conference opponents this past weekend.

The Lady Broncs defeated Cheyenne South 3-zip, but lost against Laramie 3-1.

Up next is the Casper Invitational this coming Friday and Saturday.

Big Horn had the week off from competition.

The Lady Rams are scheduled to visit Tongue River on Thursday, and then also play on Friday and Saturday at the Casper Invite.

TR lost 3-2 at Sundance back on Friday, and lost 3-zip at 3A Lovell on Saturday.

The Lady Eagles are scheduled to host BH on Thursday, as well as Moorcroft on Friday and then visit Wright on Saturday.

Arvada-Clearmont split weekend home games against 1A Northeast quadrant opponents.

The Lady Panthers defeated Kaycee 3-nothing, and lost by the same score against Hulett.

A-C is next scheduled to play on Thursday at Casper Christian.

Buffalo split a pair of 3A East Conference games this past weekend, winning at Burns 3-1, but lost at home vs. Newcastle 3-zip.

The Lady Bison next play on Friday at home vs. Powell and on Saturday at home vs. Glenrock.

Kaycee lost all 3 games that they played over the weekend, losing at Midwest, at Arvada-Clearmont and at home vs. Upton.

The Lady Buckaroos are next scheduled to play on Saturday at the Lusk Invitational.

Wyoming HS State Golf 2025: The state meets were held this past weekend at 3 different locations.

Addison Bettinger of Buffalo is the 2025 3A Girls State Champ, while Easton Lewis of Tongue River is the 2A Boys State Runner-Up.

In the team standings, the Sheridan girls and Big Horn boys were 4th, while the Buffalo boys and TR girls were 3rd.

Those who finished in the top 10 at their respective state meet earn all-state honors.

Sheridan HS Tennis/North Regional Meet: Both the Sheridan boys and girls finished 2nd at the North Regional Tournament held at Cody and Powell.

The boys #2 doubles team of Lawson Woodrow and Aaron Lansing, as well as the girls #2 doubles team of Brittany Geissler and Gracee Hogan each placed 1st in their respective brackets.

The state meet is this coming Thursday thru Saturday at Gillette.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: Sheridan, Big Horn, Tongue River and Buffalo each ran at the VA Medical Facility in Sheridan this past Saturday, in the Michelle Ludwig Invitational.

Eli Balkenbush of Sheridan won the boys race, while Lyla Marney of BH was first on the girls side.

Sheridan/Buffalo HS Girls Swimming and Diving: Sheridan split against the Gillette schools back on Friday and won a dual at home vs. Kelly Walsh on Saturday.

Buffalo won a dual at home vs. Douglas on Friday and placed 1st at the 5-team Worland Invitational on Saturday.

This coming Friday and Saturday is the Sheridan Pre-Invite and Sheridan Invitational.


Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks won both games on the road this past weekend at Cody.

Scores were 4-zip and 9-1.

Vincent Leaf scored a total of 5 goals on the weekend.

The Hawks are scheduled to play their home opener this coming Friday vs. Rapid City and are also at home on Saturday vs. Cody.

The puck drops at 7:30pm for both games.


University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys lost on Saturday at Colorado 37-20.

Quarterback Kaden Anderson was 11 of 25 passing for 176 yards  and 2 touchdown passes.

One was caught by Eric Richardson, while Chris Durr Junior caught the other.

Erik Sandvik kicked 2 field goals.

The downside was the defense gave up 497 yards total to the Buffs.

UW has this week off from competition.

The team is scheduled to start Mountain West Conference play  next week on Saturday, October 4th at home vs. UNLV.


Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos suffered their second heart-breaking loss on the road in as many games, as the LA Chargers kicked a late field goal to prevail 23-20.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 14 of 25 passing for 153 yards and 1 touchdown pass to J.K. Dobbins.

Courtland Sutton had 118 yards on the ground and ran for 1 score, while Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals.

There were 4 differences in this game.

The Chargers got 29 first downs, compared to 9 for the Broncos.

LA was 8 of 17 on 3rd down conversions, while Denver was only 2 of 13.

The Broncos were penalized 10 times for 90 yards, while the opposition were only called 3 times for 25.

Then there was time of possession, which differed by about 12 ½ minutes.

Denver next plays the Monday night game, one week from today at home vs. Cincinnati.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 out of 3 games against the LA Angels, in their final home-stand of the season and in turn, assured that the team will finish the season with a better record than last year’s Chicago White Sox team.

The Rocks won on Friday 7-6, but lost on Saturday 3-zip.

Colorado would prevail yesterday 3-1, as Blaine Crim hit a solo home run to help the cause.

The Rockies have 6 games remaining on their regular season schedule…all of them on the road.

The team starts a 3-game series tomorrow at Seattle, and will conclude the season after that, with a 3-game series at San Francisco.


Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won both ends of a pre-season split squad double-header yesterday at home vs. the Utah Mammoth.

Scores were 5-1 and 3-2.

The Avs next play this coming Saturday at home vs. Dallas.

The regular season starts on Tuesday, October 7th.
