Sheridan HS Soccer: The Sheridan High School Girls Soccer team played to a 1-1 draw yesterday, in a 4A East Conference matchup at Campbell County.
Both the boys and girls are scheduled to play one more nonconference game and that is a double-header tomorrow at 3A Worland.
Sheridan HS Nordic Ski: The Wyoming High School Nordic Ski season ended a little more than 1 month ago, and the Sheridan boys surprised everyone…including themselves.
At the state meet near Pinedale, the Broncs had 2 finishers in the top 4 on the first day, and 3 in the top 7 on the second day, to win their first state title in school history, in only their 4th year of existence.
Sophomore Kade Shideman was runner-up in the 5K race and 4th in the 10K competition.
Since all 8 teams compete against each other at every meet throughout the season, many had a general idea as to which teams were the front runners for the state title, but Shideman says Sheridan was saving their best for last.
Junior Abraham Hughes was 4th and 3rd respectively in the 2 races.
He says at practice time, the amount of snow up on the mountain in Sheridan County wasn’t much of an issue, but in the lower elevations and at many other places in Wyoming, finding enough of the white stuff was a challenge.
This year’s state meet was supposed to be held near Lander, but was moved to Pinedale, due to a lack of snow.
Tongue River Girls Basketball: The Tongue River girls have played their last game in the 2A ranks for now.
The Lady Eagles came up short in their bid to 3-peat, and finished the season with a record of 18-11.
Head Coach Carly Sanon says a lot of girls got some playing time this season, and some got more than perhaps they were anticipating, but the experience will pay off in future seasons.
TR moves up to Class 3A next season.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost last night at Toronto 5-1.
Hunter Goodman provided the 1 on a solo home run.
The Rocks will try to win the rubber game of the 3-game series today, starting at 11:07am.
After that the team will return to Denver to play its home opener on Friday.
