Kyle Warnke To Become New Activities Director At Sheridan HS

A former Sheridan High School Coach will soon take over the reins of the activities department at the School.

Kyle Warnke has been named the new Activities Director beginning July 1st, 2026.

He is a former Basketball Coach at Sheridan High School and is currently a 5th grade teacher at Highland Park Elementary.

Warnke says he’s been in and around the Bronc program so many times, he might as well give one of the top jobs a try.

“I’ve coached up here at the High School off and on for close to 20 years and just grew up watching Sheridan sports and just like to see kids doing things that they’re passionate about and just thought it would be a good change of pace.”

As for current AD Kasey Garnhart, he is leaving the position to move his family to Laramie, because his wife was recently named the new executive director of the Wyoming Association for Career and Technical Education.

He says things at Sheridan High School are just as good if not better since he took over as AD in 2022, following Don Julian’s retirement.

Garnhart adds there has been a high level of expectation based on the recent overall success of the Sheridan High School Activities programs, but things have found a way to make sure it doesn’t get too high.

“You just kind of stay within your bounds of how you want to define your success and I think our coaches realize it’s a lot bigger than just championships. I think it’s more about the development of kids and they’ve made that the priority and I think when you make that the priority and you’re looking to build high character, young men and women, good things are going to happen and I think it kind of lends itself to find some of those championships that they’ve been able to find over my tenure here.”

Garnhart says once he and his family move to Laramie, he’s planning to start work in medical sales.
