Sheridan/Johnson County HS Spring Sports: Track and Field teams from Sheridan, Big Horn, Tongue River and Buffalo are going to try to beat the weather and compete in a quad meet today at Sheridan.

Competition starts at 3pm.

In Soccer, Sheridan will play a boys and girls double-header at Worland, while the Buffalo boys and girls play at Powell.

The Sheridan HS Softball team was originally scheduled to play today at Cody, but the opposition has too many players out on their spring break, thus the game has been moved to April 28th and the Lady Broncs have this weekend off from competition.

Violet Fryberger of Sheridan HS To Cheer At Chadron State College: One Sheridan High School Cheerleader is hoping to take flight with her new squad.

Violet Fryberger has signed an offer to join the cheer team at Chadron State College in Nebraska.

She says she’s been cheering since Elementary School and she was only 1 of 2 that received an offer to join the team at a recent prospect camp.

Fryberger adds cheerleading activities help her stay in and/or get into better shape.

Fryberger says the one advantage she had at the prospect camp, was that she was the only backspot in attendance.

She plans to major in studio art.

Her older brother, Harvey, graduated from Sheridan High School last year.

He is a former Bronc football player and currently plays for the Chadron State College Eagle Football Team.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won the rubber game of their 3-game series yesterday at Toronto 2-1 in 10 innings.

Today is an off day on the schedule.

The Rocks will play their home opener tomorrow, as the team opens a 3-game series vs. Philadelphia, to be followed by a 3-game series at home vs. Houston.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets won their 7th game in a row last night, winning at Utah 130-117 and have clinched a spot in the playoffs.

With 5 games remaining in the regular season, the team currently would have the #4 seed, and have a 1 ½ game lead over Houston for that spot, and are 1 ½ games behind the LA Lakers for the #3 seed.

The Nuggets are next scheduled to play on Saturday at home vs. San Antonio.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at home vs. Vancouver 8-6.

The Avs are next scheduled to play on Saturday at Dallas and on Sunday at home vs. St. Louis.
