Sheridan College Rodeo: With 2 competitions to go in the spring, it’s almost a lock that the Sheridan College men’s rodeo team will represent at the College National Finals Rodeo.

At this past weekend’s event at Colorado State, the team placed 2nd in the standings.

Christopher Nelson won the Saddle Bronc Riding event and that would move him up the season standings to #3, which is where you need to be or better at the end of this month, to qualify for the CNFR.

Sheridan College has Saddle Bronc riders at 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th in the Central Rocky Mountain Region Standings.

The others are Jake Schlattman, Lonnie Dunn, Taiten Eaton and Brody Hale.

In Tie-Down Roping, Tyon Arneson placed 3rd on the weekend.

He is making a late season surge up the standings, and is in 5th place in the region with 2 rodeos to go.

On the women’s side, Sheridan College placed 4th in Fort Collins.

Sierra McGregor won the Breakaway Roping.

This week is an off week from competition.

The next rodeo event is on the weekend of April 17th thru the 19th at Casper College.


Sheridan/Buffalo HS Soccer: Buffalo swept a Tuesday double-header at home vs. Rawlins.

The boys score was 4-nil and the girls score was 4-1.

The Bison and Lady Bison are next scheduled to play on Friday at Douglas.

Meanwhile, Sheridan resumes 4A East Conference play this weekend vs. Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.

The boys play on the road and the girls at home.


Sheridan/Johnson County HS Spring Sports: Tongue River is hosting a track and field meet on Friday with Sheridan and Big Horn among the other teams competing.

Field events start at 10am and running events at 10:45.

Buffalo is scheduled to compete on Friday at Spearfish, South Dakota, while Arvada-Clearmont and Kaycee will be at Upton.

Spring golf starts competition this weekend.

Sheridan and Buffalo will be at Worland on Friday, while Big Horn and Tongue River will host a 1-day event at Kendrick Golf Course.

Spring tennis also starts this weekend in Casper.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies have won 3 in a row, thanks to a 5-1 win last night at home vs. Houston.

Willi Castro and Mickey Moniak each hit 2-run home runs for the cause.

The Rocks will try to pull off a 3-game sweep of the Astros today starting at 1:10pm.


Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won last night at St. Louis, 3-1.

With the win, the Avs clinched the Central Division, and the #1 seed in the West, heading into the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Avs are next scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Calgary.
