Pat BlairStarting Tuesday. Sheridan County School District 1 will provide sack lunches to all students under the age of 18.
Pete Kilbride, who’s superintendent of the district, said lunches will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily, including Friday, even though that isn’t a regular school day in the district.
Kilbride said the lunches will be available at five different locations – Tongue River High School in Dayton, Tongue River Elementary and the Tongue River Learning Center in Ranchester, Big Horn High School in Big Horn and the Parkman Post Office for students who live in that area and/or attend the Slack Elementary School.
Kilbride said the district is following Governor Mark Gordon’s recommendation to shut down schools until early next month.
In the meantime, he said, district teachers were asked late last week to get their computers and any supplies they needed, go home and start working on a plan to deliver online learning to their students starting April 6.
