Emergency Management talks flooding: Sheridan County has planned, now it may be on the way
Sheridan County Emergency Management Coordinator Jesse Ludikhuize made an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to discuss an array of issues concerning preparedness and training opportunities.
During the appearance, Ludikhuize also alerted the public to the threat of potential flooding as soon as this week.
Sheridan County has made sand and sandbags available to the region for months. Ludikhuize said they have had to replace piles of sand and sandbags at the locations already this year. It’s a good outlook for damage control. Sheridan County has already put out over 400 tons of sand and 15,000 sandbags this year.
Ludikhuize told listeners the weather center has also advised moving equipment and livestock that may be on lower elevation to safer ground.
Ludikhuize said he hopes the expected flooding never arrives, but he is glad to see that the public is taking the warnings seriously.
If you would like to help, Ludikhuize and the Sheridan Office of Emergency Management will be hosting a sandbagging party from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds.
