Food Group Committed to Continuity of Care

The Food Group remains committed to providing continuity of care to all children in Sheridan County during the COVID-19 health crisis.

Keri McMeans, who’s executive director of The Food Group, said the organization is working with all three of Sheridan County’s school districts.

She said The Food Group is currently working and planning with School District 3 to serve children there. On Wednesday, she said, The Food Group will provide two weeks’ worth of weekend food bags – two bags per child – for elementary and junior high children in Sheridan County School District 2.

McMeans said the bags will be dropped off at the school the child currently attends.

Pickup times will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

McMeans said The Food Group plans to continue the food bags for School District 2 the week of March 30 as well.

She said The Food Group is also adapting its other programs, such as the Little Free Pantries. She said the organization is working with volunteers to stock and maintain those pantries. She said that will probably include restocking those pantries every day.

She said The Food Group anticipates a possible rise in numbers of children being served, but no increase has been seen yet.
