Sheridan/Johnson County Unemployment Rates Decrease In March 2026

Wyoming’s unemployment rate for March did not change from February, but Sheridan and Johnson County’s rates changed for the better.

The Wyoming Department of Workforce Services says the statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2026 was at 3.6%, which is unchanged from the month before, and up from 3.2% in March of 2025.

The US Seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March 2026 was at 4.3%, which is down from 4.4% in February, and up from 4.2% in March 2025.

Sheridan County’s unemployment rate dropped from 4.0% in February to 3.5% in March, while Johnson County’s rate dropped from 4.0% to 3.4%.

Sheridan County’s new rate is below last year’s rate of 3.7%, while Johnson County’s new rate is higher than last year’s rate of 3.1%.

The Department says rates normally start decreasing in March as warmer weather brings seasonal job gains in construction, professional & business services and government.

The lowest unemployment rate in Wyoming for March was in Albany and Teton Counties at 2.7%, while the highest rate was in Niobrara County at 5.4%.

Non-farm employment in the Cowboy State increased by 1,400 jobs from March 2025 to March 2026.
