cvannoyThe Santa Fly-In at the Sheridan County Airport, hosted by the Sheridan Pilots Association, is in its third year, and this year there was a new twist. Justin Heid, President of the Sheridan Pilots Association explains what is different this year.
Rickey Culp, the chief helicopter instructor at the Rotor Fly School was the pilot, and he said this about his role in bringing Santa into Sheridan this year. “It was fun, and we had our eyes on all the boys and girls in Sheridan.”
This is Santa’s third year doing the Fly-In at the airport, and he had this to say about the helicopter ride.
Last year, around 450 people came to see Santa, and Heid estimated that there would be about the same number this year.
Jhett Zowada was one of the youngsters who was there with her family to see Santa come in and have her photo taken with Santa.
Ellie and her brother Kashton Bauer were on hand as well, and Ellie said she thought that Santa getting out of the helicopter was pretty cool and she plans to ask him for a sewing kit for Christmas. Kashton said he couldn’t quite see the helicopter, but he planned to ask Santa for a bean bag chair.
There was a table set up for letters to Santa, and one for youngsters to color pictures of Santa in the helicopter, as well as cocoa and marshmallows for those attending.
Heid added that last year around 450 people attended the fly-in, and he expected about the same amount or more would be there this year. He said it was a great opportunity for Sheridan residents to come out and check out their airport.
