Adeline Burgess Sets 2 Sheridan HS 3-Point Records: One Sheridan Lady Bronc Basketball Player has written herself into the record books twice.
This past Thursday at the 4A East Regional Tournament in Sheridan, Senior Adeline Burgess made 8 3-pointers in the game vs. Laramie, setting a new school record for most 3-pointers made in a game.
The old record was 7 set in both 1998 and in 2014.
On top of that, she also has the school record for most 3-pointers made in a single season.
The old record was 64 set in 2011.
Burgess is now at 66 and still has 2 and perhaps 3 games left to play.
She says she prefers to shoot from the left side of the court, thus she does not get the help and support from the backboard, and when it comes to practice, she doesn’t always take her time, because she doesn’t have all the time in the world when it’s game time.
Burgess and the Sheridan Lady Broncs begin the 4A Girls State Tournament this Thursday at 9am at Casper College against Rock Springs.
Sheridan County HS 2A and 1A Basketball Players Earn All-Conference/All-State Honots: The 2A and 1A basketball seasons ended this past weekend and the coaches have named the best players in each quadrant and for the state.
A total of 15 players from Tongue River, Big Horn and Arvada-Clearmont received all-conference honors.
Of those 15, 6 of them were named all-state.
From the Tongue River girls, Paxton Aksamit, Afton Cummins and Chaney Reish received the honors.
Colter Hanft and Caleb Kilbride from the Tongue River boys were also named All-State, as well as Caleb Gibson from the Big Horn boys.

Sheridan Hawks Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks came close, but ended up 4 points short in the standings in their quest to make the playoffs, thus the season has ended.
The season did not get off to a good start as the team dropped 14 of their first 20 games, and then there was that 7-game skid from late January through most of February.
Coach J.J. Santagata says from the start of the season to the end, there was a lot of player turnover, and only a small handful of players stayed with the team the entire season.
There were also times when Sheridan gave some of the top teams in the league a run for their money, and if a few breaks had gone their way, the team might be playing in the post-season.
The playoff pairings in the NA3HL Frontier Division playoffs have Great Falls taking on Helena and Bozeman vs. Gillette.

In both games last week she averaged 18.5 points and 10 rebounds and had a double-double in both of those games.
The Douglas High School graduate shot better than 69% from the field and a little better than 90% from the free throw line.
This is the third time in her collegiate career that she has received conference player of the week honors and it’s the first time this season.
Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won a slugfest yesterday at home vs. San Francisco 12-10.
Elehuris Montero hit a solo shot in the 3rd inning and Kris Bryant added a 3-run shot in the 4th.
The Rockies are 8-4 so far in the pre-season and have today off.
They will play again tomorrow at home vs. Texas.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche shutout Chicago last night at home 5-0.
The Avs play again tomorrow at home vs. Detroit.
Denver Broncos Cut QB Russell Wilson: The Denver Broncos have announced they will officially cut quarterback Russell Wilson one week from tomorrow, which is the soonest they can do it.
In his 2 years with the team, he put together a record of 11-19 and was benched the last 2 games of last season.
Denver acquired him in a trade with Seattle 2 years ago and signed him to a 5-year extension worth $242 million, with $161 million guaranteed.
The Broncos will have to figure things out financially because with Wilson’s release, the team is taking an $85 million dead hit on their salary cap.
Denver will pick 12th in the first round of the NFL draft, which is scheduled to take place April 25th through the 27th.
