Buffalo Youth Baseball Has Big Changes Planned for Ballparks
The Buffalo Youth Baseball organization presented their preliminary plans for upgrades to both the Sports Fields Complex and Prosinski Park to the city council.
A J Mock, with BYB, said the upgrades are needed because teams that have come to town to play Buffalo’s teams are now refusing to come back, because the fields are not safe to play on.
Preliminary engineer’s estimates for the Sports Fields Complex are nearly $3 million, which includes improving drainage, numerous upgrades, and the installation of field turf on all four baseball fields.
Prosinski Park’s estimate is for nearly $860,000 for re-configuring and enlarging the existing field at the corner of Angus and Burritt to the opposite corner at Fetterman and Western Avenue, and numerous upgrades including the dugouts, backstops, fencing, PA system, and a scoreboard.
Mock told the council they were seeking no funding from the city at this time.
No action was needed or taken by the council.
The improvements to the ball fields are expected to take a few years to get completed if funded and approved.
