Pat BlairSheridan County commissioners in a special meeting Monday ratified their decision last week to close the county courthouse to the public.
Commission Chairman Nick Siddle explained why the action has been taken.
Commissioners decided on the closure in an emergency meeting last week. Under state law, commissioners can take action in an emergency meeting but then must reaffirm their action in a public meeting that has been properly advertised with prior notice.
Under the commissioners’ action, the circuit and district courts will remain open but with limited access, and other county offices will be accessible only online or by phone.
