Airline looking at one flight a day for April

After briefly going to two flights a day this month, SkyWest is expected to return to one flight per day in April, and what will happen in May is currently unknown, according to John Stopka.

Stopka is manager of the Sheridan County Airport. Stopka said the Sheridan County Airport, along with the airports in Rock Springs, Gillette and Riverton, remain in phone contact with SkyWest to talk about flight schedules.

Stopka said SkyWest ran one flight a day at the Sheridan County Airport for most of the winter but added a second daily flight from March 18 through Sunday for spring break. He said the airline will provide two flights a day again from March 26-28 but then will return to one flight a day probably through April.

He said the bookings for air travel are good.

Stopka said at this time, all of the airlines are “playing” with their schedules.

He said the Sheridan County Airport will be helped when more flights are added in and out of the Denver International Airport. At that time, he said, SkyWest can start scheduling flights farther in advance that is presently possible.
