It would a shame that this community could not find it in their heart to support our seniors for a MEASLEY $38 per year. After all WHO? built the schools, roads, water/sewer systems and all the other systems we all use. FOR A MEASLEY!!!!! $38 a year how shamefully CHEAP could we be. Seniors need and use the senior center, buses, day break, meals on wheels etc. But who cares about old people. let them go home {if they have one}and sit in the dark.. At least they would be out of sight and not reminding us, how we so shamefully failed them….

Yes or No.
It’s not the amount, it’s the forced-taxation that we object to.
Since the majority of property owners are Seniors, it only hurts them to raise their property taxes.
Engage brain, then vote NO on the Property tax hike scam.

Maybe you should engage responsibility instead of just thinking of your pocketbook.. Yes, I will happily pay $38 a year. To give back to seniors what they gave to me. Maybe to open your eyes, you might spend part of a day at the senior center,observing the buses and day care,deliver meals on wheels and how important it is 2 people who have paid their way. People who’s only sin is getting old and meeting help.

Happily pay? That’s good since you’ll be Forced to pay if this nonsensical tax hike passes.
And it’s not “giving” if you are Forced to pay the tax increase. All taxes are collected by force. “Giving” is always and only a “voluntary” act.
There’s no “happily giving” if forced-taxation is imposed.
It’s illogical to raise taxes on seniors to “help” them. Higher taxes only hurt!
Lower taxes are always better.

Yes Dennis HAPPILY PAY!!!!! Because I am willing to pay my share, to give my support to my fellow citizens. That Sir, just being an American, sorry you consider carrying your share, “being forced”…. Without this money, the HUB, Day Care, Meals on Wheels and many other senior services may very well CEASE TO EXIST.. Try carrying your share Dennis, instead of whining about how heavy it is ……

We are not “willingly” paying taxes. All taxes are collected by coercive force, up to and including the point of a gun. Don’t pay your property taxes and men with guns will evict you and sell your home for back taxes.
That’s why we freedom-loving Americans object to raising taxes. It’s forced extraction of our hard-earned money. There’s no “happy”, “willing” or “giving” involved.
It’s forced theft!
No property tax hike. No forced extraction. No socialist wealth-redistribution scheme, that benefits only boards and politicians.
Socialism has failed everywhere it’s ever been tried. And it will fail again in Sheridan County.
Vote NO on the property tax hike.
Lower taxes are better!

Seems to me your military retirement is paid for with taxes forced on me, called income tax. I am VERY willing to pay for your 20 years of service YOU DARN WELL EARNED IT. BUT, What if all of us took your tax attitude, where would your retirement dollars come from. I KNOW seniors have earned my help as well. Seems to me that your view of folks who deserve help is pretty darn narrow.

Thanks for the kind words and I agree, I earned every dollar.
And seniors are very deserving of our voluntary donations and happy, charitable giving of all kinds. Bake sales, auctions, raffles, and bingo nites are excellent way to raise money Voluntarily.
It’s the funding method of forced-taxation that all freed-loving, real Americans object to. Raising taxes on seniors to “help” them is the same as putting a gun to Grandpa’s head and saying hand over your money….so we can send it to the gov’t…to help you. Dumber than dirt idea!
It’s theft, not giving help.
Forced taxation only hurts us.
Engage logical reasoning, then vote NO on higher property taxes.
Lower taxes are always better.

WOW Dennis That would be SOME!! bake sale you will run, that would replace the $250,000 the Hub was cut last year, the $150,000 the bus lost last year.. You are a bake sale genius.. Maybe you should think up a bake sale to fund your retirement, then we could refuse to pay ALL taxes. BUT your bake sale failing that, I will continue to shoulder my share of the tax load. And I will be proud to help the seniors who paved the way for both YOU AND I,,

Helping seniors voluntarily is a great idea. Raising property taxes on seniors to “help” them is a really dumb idea.
Socialism has failed everywhere it’s ever been tried.
BTW, my military contract included a clause that would pay “delayed benefits” if I were to survive 20 years of flying.
I did. Many of my friends did not.
I collect my modest, well-earned pension to sustain my life and then spend some of it doing things to benefit everyone in S.C.
The signs saying: “No Property Tax Hike” are an example.
No one needs or wants a property tax hike right now.

There were 85 more votes for higher taxes. That means if only 43 “yes” voters had voted “no” we would not have raised property taxes on every property owner in Sheridan County.
When a minority of 43 people dictate higher taxes to 33,000 residents, that’s called “Tyranny of the Minority.”
That should no happen in a free country.
