Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball team took advantage of other teams underestimating them at the recent Division One State Tournament.

Other teams were saving their better pitchers for later opponents, but the Jets made them regret those decisions, although not every team made that mistake.

One of those teams was State Champion Cheyenne Post 6 who played Sheridan both in the first round and in the state championship.

Head Coach Brad Barker says his boys took the Jets seriously both times.

Cheyenne is heading to the AA Northwest Regional Tournament, which starts next week Wednesday in Medford, Oregon.

Post 6 will take on the state champs from Hawaii in the first round.

The Sheridan Jets will play in the Northwest Class A Regional Tournament beginning next week Thursday in Casper.

Texas Tanner Of Sheridan Wins At USA Outdoor T&F Championships: A Sheridan High School grad recently threw his way to a National Championship.

Texas Tanner, who graduated from SHS in 2022 and recently from the US Air Force Academy, won the discus event at USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held in New York City.

Tanner was 3rd after 3 throws, with a distance of 203 feet 2 inches, but it was enough to place him in the top 9, who were invited back for 3 more.

He made the most of his 2nd chance as he would toss a discus 214 feet 9 inches, to win by more than 4 feet.

Tanner also placed 6th in the hammer throw.

Last month at the NCAA Championships, he placed 2nd in the hammer throw and was 4th in the discus.
