WY American Legion Post 7 Suspends Baseball Program Sponsorship With Sheridan American Legion Baseball Inc.

Wyoming American Legion Post 7, Sheridan, Wyoming (“Post 7”) has announced that it has suspended its baseball program sponsorship of Sheridan American Legion Baseball, Inc., effective September 11, 2026, after months of unresolved compliance issues with National American Legion Baseball program rules.

Since December 2025, Post 7 has communicated directly with the Board of Directors of Sheridan American Legion Baseball, Inc. (“the Board”) in an effort to bring its operations into full compliance with National American Legion Baseball rules.

Despite repeated outreach by Post 7 and opportunities provided to the Board to correct the identified issues, the Board has been unwilling to make such corrections.

“Post 7 remains committed to the continued success of Sheridan youth baseball and to protecting the hard work and dedication of its athletes. We respectfully ask the baseball board of Sheridan American Legion Baseball, Inc. to honor the program sponsored requirements of The American Legion and take the necessary steps to come into compliance, as required of all organizations affiliated with The American Legion,” stated Jennifer A. Warriner, Commander, American Legion Post 7.

As a result of this continued non-compliance, Post 7 has suspended its sponsorship of the Sheridan baseball program and is providing the Board of Directors of Sheridan American Legion Baseball, Inc., a 30-day period, beginning September 11, 2026, and concluding October 11, 2026, to take the steps necessary to meet American Legion program requirements.

If the Post 7 requirements are not met by the end of the suspension period, the American Legion sponsorship of Sheridan American Legion Baseball will be terminated.

This suspension does not impede the coaches’ ability to continue fall baseball workouts or to prepare for the upcoming 2027 season.

Post 7 is committed to ensuring that all players, coaches, and families experience no disruption to their off-season baseball activities during this process.

Post 7 remains committed to the integrity of the Sheridan American Legion Baseball program, to ensure all program youth participants, coaches, and families are served in accordance with American Legion standards, and to the continuance of an American Legion Sponsored baseball program in Sheridan.

As such, if the Board fails to satisfy the requirements of Post 7 by October 11, 2026, Post 7 intends to cooperate with the formation of a new Sheridan American Legion baseball organization and to subsequently sponsor that program, so it is able to compete in the 2027 Wyoming American Legion Baseball season.
