Salvation Army Open to Those in Need

Sheridan’s Salvation Army is remaining open to meet the needs of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gary Dobney, who’s the envoy in charge, said the pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. daily, although there will be one difference.

He said people can come only as far as the door of the building at 150 S. Tschirgi Street.

Dobney said people who are on mandatory quarantine, or who have self-quarantined because they are in the high risk population, can call 672-2444, Ext. 3. and talk to Suzie, who is a Salvation Army employee, to arrange for a food box to be delivered to their home.

Dobney said those who have financial or social service needs other than food can call 752-4217 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. and talk to Bill, who is the Salvation Army’s social services director.

He said the Salvation Army knows that there are people who don’t normally need help from the organization but who, because of the current crisis, now need help temporarily. He said that includes those who have been laid off because of businesses that are partially or completely shut down at this time.

He said funds have been made available to the Salvation Army because of the crisis, and he urged those who find themselves needing help to call the organization.

Dobney said those who need pastoral counseling or prayer to call 672-2444 and follow the prompts to reach him. The Salvation Army also will be streaming a Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. and a church service at 11 a.m. each Sunday during the crisis.

He said the Salvation Army’s thrift store will be closed temporarily in keeping with recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and the Wyoming Department of Health.
