Courthouse Closed to Public

The Sheridan County Courthouse will be closed to public access at 5 p.m. Thursday and until further notice. The court system will remain open with limited access. Commissioners decided on the closure to safeguard the community and employees and are encouraging the public to utilize the mail, email, phone or online services to conduct business.

Members of the public are asked to visit the elected office, court systems and department web links listed below to find services that can be utilized by alternate methods rather than in person.

To the extent possible, the clerk of district court encourages child support payments, criminal fines, fees and restitution payments to be done by mail. If this isn’t an option, in-person transactions will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the clerk of district court office. Enter the courthouse through the third floor main entry on South Main Street.

To the extent possible, all district court hearings will be conducted by video/telephone conferencing. If you haven’t been contacted regarding instructions on how to participate by your legal council., the district court clerk’s office or district court’s judicial assistance, contact the district court’s chambers at (307) 674-4478. If the call isn’t answered immediately, leave a message. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.

Do not attend a district court hearing in person unless you’re instructed to do so.

Circuit court is closed to the public. Call (307) 674-2940 for infr4mation. No in-person payments will be accepted for court fines, assessment or restitution. Payments may be made online at citepayusa.com or by mail.

All criminal processes are continuing tyhrough the circuit court, with the only change being “in person” hearings. Defendants will either appear from the jail via video or by telephone. Anyone with a citation is asked to call the circuit court clerk.

Those who need to file for domestic violence or stalking orders of protection will find those forms available online at https://www.courts.state.wy.us/court/circuit-court-of-the-4th-judicial-district-sheridan-county-state-of-wyoming-sheridan and/or contact the Advocacy and Resource Center at (307) 672-7471 or the crisis line at (307) 672-3222. Call the circuit court regarding filing those documents.
