WDOH Asks Counties to Prepare for Closures of Public Places In Case It Becomes Necessary

Sheridan County’s first reported COVID-19 case has recovered and can end self-isolation today following the guidelines recommended by CDC and Wyoming Department of Health (WDH). The other three Sheridan County COVID-19 cases are doing well and continuing self-isolation in their homes. They are being monitored by Sheridan County Public Health and WDH.

Wyoming’s State Health Officer, Dr. Alexia Harrist, asked county health officers to begin working with their respective county attorneys and commissioners to prepare for closure of public places when there’s evidence of community transmission. Public places include bars, restaurants, food courts, gyms, and other indoor and outdoor venues where groups of people congregate.

Sheridan County Health Officer, Dr. Ian Hunter, Sheridan County Attorney, Dianna Bennett, and the Sheridan County IMT are closely monitoring this ever-changing situation as it relates to the possible closure of public places.

Fever

Cough

Shortness of Breath

All outpatients who are tested for the COVID-19 virus are required to self-isolate in their homes until negative test results are obtained. Test results may take up to 3-5 days for those who are at lower risk.

The public is encouraged to follow these guidelines outlined by the CDC and WDH:

Avoid close contact (within 6 feet) with those who are sick or may have been exposed.

Stay home if sick (but if you are concerned it may be more than just a cold, please consult your physician).

Avoid gatherings of 50 or more people.

Cancel gatherings of more than 10 people for organizations that serve higher-risk populations.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
