cvannoyThe Clearmont Town Council held their regular meeting on Jan. 16. Mayor Chris Schock updated the council on water well #3.
Councilman Ronnie Poppenga asked if the water was running 24 hours a day, and maintenance man John Kiser said the water would run for an hour, then it would shut off and settle for a while. He said there seemed to be improvement in the look of the water.
Schock also said the town updated the Emergency Public Drinking Water Plan.
Schock said that, depending on the weather, he will be attending the WAM Conference in Cheyenne at the end of January.
There was a brief discussion about the budget class that the council members are required to take. It can be taken via the internet.
Clerk Vivian Ramsay reported that she was having a conference call on Tuesday with Cloud Peak Accounting on the audit. She also asked the council to decide what date they wanted to start the repayment on the Wyoming Water Development SLIB loan. It was agreed to start the payments the end of July.
Schock reported that he reapplied for the ARPA grant to be used for water line replacement.
An ongoing discussion is the water loss in the town, and how this can be avoided. Kiser said that about 50 to 60 old water meters still need to be replaced, and that some residents have let their water meters freeze during a cold snap, and these meters need to be replaced. It was stated that the residents have to pay for the meters and charging the residents for the cost of labor for replacing them was also discussed.
The next meeting will on Feburary 20 at 6 p.m. at town hall.
