Sheridan HS Boys Basketball: The Sheridan High School Boys Basketball Team is looking to improve from last season’s 3rd place finish.
The Broncs had the 3rd best offense and 2nd best defense in Class 4A last year, and among the players returning include Nate Miner who had the 2nd highest scoring average in 4A.
Head Coach Jeff Martini says the team only has to replace 3 seniors from last season, and considering the amount of experience coming back, that hopefully should not be much of an issue.
Sheridan is scheduled to start their season one week from tomorrow at the Casper Invitational.
Sheridan Area Resident Bev Leichtnam Honored For Volleyball Referee Service: one Sheridan area resident was recently honored for her longevity in overseeing the action on the volleyball court.
Bev Leichtnam was recently honored for 40 years of officiating service, during the recent state tournament.
Over the course of her career, the game has changed from the old scoring system, where only the serving team could earn points, to the current rally scoring system that Wyoming High Schools adopted in 2003.
She says she has also seen how the players have changed how they play the game as well, which has forced many referees to sharpen their skills on how to officiate the game.
Leichtnam is a current member of the Sheridan City Council, and also refereed basketball for 20 years, and soccer for 25 years.
University of Wyoming Football: The post season individual accolades have been voted on by the coaches within the Mountain West Conference.
No one from Wyoming won 1st team honors, while 2 players were named to the second team and 5 others received honorable mention honors.
Offensive Lineman Caden Barnett and Linebacker Brayden Johnson were selected to the second team.
Honorable mention went to cornerbacks Tyrese Ross and Dainsus Miller, as well as linebacker Evan Eller, defensive lineman Ben Florentine and center Jack Walsh.
Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won last night at home vs. Vancouver 3-1.
