Sheridan College Rodeo: The Sheridan College Men’s Rodeo Team continues to leave its mark on the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

Saddle Bronc rider Christopher Nelson tied for 1st and 2nd place in the average, and Jake Schlattmann placed 3rd, while Talon Arcoren placed 3rd in the bareback riding average, to help the Generals place 2nd at the 2025 Pat Hamilton Rodeo at the Sheridan County Fairgrounds this past weekend.

Through 3 rodeos in the 2025-26 season, Schlattmann and Nelson are 1st and 2nd respectively in the regional standings.

Tyon Arneson and Emmett Sortum placed 4th in the team roping and are tied for 1st and 2nd place in the region.

Although the Sheridan College women did not place in the team standings, several cowgirls placed in their respective individual events.

Rylee Price was 4th in the breakaway roping and 9th in the goat tying, to end up 4th in the women’s all-around category.

Allie Huskey was 4th in barrel racing.

The next scheduled rodeo event is this coming Friday thru Sunday, October 3rd through the 5th at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne.

Sheridan HS Tennis: In his first year at the helm, Sheridan High School Coach Scott Dickey has coached players and the team to championship wins.

The Broncs behind 2 state doubles championships, 1 runner-up and 1 3rd place finish, won their first state title in 40 years.

The only dual match hiccup mid-way through the season was the home finale against Jackson in early September, but coach says he was pleased that the team didn’t let that one match get them down.

The Sheridan girls placed 5th at the recent state tournament, thanks to one 3rd and one 4th place finish.

Sheridan HS Volleyball: Sheridan lost last night in 4A East Conference play at Thunder Basin 3-nothing.

The Lady Broncs are scheduled to play tomorrow at home vs. Campbell County, beginning at 6pm.

University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys had last week off from competition, and are back in action this week as the team plays its Mountain West Conference opener this coming Saturday at home vs. UNLV.

The Runnin’ Rebels have a 1-2 combination in the forms of quarterback Anthony Colandrea who is a dual threat and averaged 235 yards per game through the air.

Then there’s running back Jai’Den Thomas who leads the conference in average rushing yards per game with 98.

Pokes Head Coach Jay Sawvel says Colandrea is the key, because if you can stop him from throwing the ball, he can run with it as well.

Kickoff from War Memorial Stadium in Laramie this Saturday is scheduled for 5pm.

Colorado Avalanche Pre-Season Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche won last night at home vs. Las Vegas 4-2.

The Avs and Golden Knights are scheduled to play each other again today at Las Vegas, beginning at 7pm.
