Sheridan HS Softball: There’s more to the Sheridan High School softball team than just players from Sheridan.

The Lady Broncs also have players on the team from Buffalo, Big Horn and Tongue River High Schools and they have been making an impact.

In last Thursday’s win in game 1 of the home double-header vs. Campbell County. Sheridan hit 3 home runs and the 3 that did it, don’t go to Sheridan High School.

Bailey Howe of Buffalo had the walk-off 2 run home run that won the game.

Before that, Isobell Kerckaert of Buffalo had a 3-run shot and Emerson Kelley of Big Horn hit a 2-run blast.

Varsity softball was in Wyoming for 4 years prior to Sheridan putting a team together.

Kerckaert says she and her Buffalo teammates could have joined up with either of the Gillette or Casper schools in the past and adds that playing for Sheridan is more fun.

Kelley says some players may not wear the Sheridan blue and gold on a regular basis, but regardless of school allegiance, the team is coming together and that 1 home win last week meant a lot.

The Lady Broncs are scheduled to play a home double-header today vs. Cody at the Sheridan College Softball Complex.

Varsity game times are at 4 and 6pm.

Sheridan/Buffalo HS Soccer: There has been a change in this week’s schedule.

Originally Sheridan and Buffalo were to play each other on Friday with the boys game in Johnson County and Sheridan hosting the girls game.

Because of a shortage of officials, both games have been moved up to Thursday and both will be played at Sheridan.

Start times are scheduled for 4 and 6pm.

Sheridan College Rodeo: Sheridan College competed this past weekend at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington.

Taylor McGregor had a couple of good runs in the Breakaway Roping, finishing 2nd in Round 1, and ended up 6th overall for the weekend.

Not much changed in the overall season standings.

The one who has a decent shot of qualifying for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, would be Jake Schlattmann in the Saddle Bronc Riding.

He is currently 4th in the region standings with 3 rodeos to go, and you have to be 3rd place or better to get an invite to the CNFR.

Colorado State will host this weekend’s rodeo competition in Loveland.

Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball: Boise State, who is the conference’s lone team still around in the postseason, won their first round game yesterday in the Crown Tournament in Las Vegas, defeating George Washington University 89-59.

The Broncos will play in the quarter-finals tomorrow vs. Butler at 5pm.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost the first game of a 3-game series yesterday at Philadelphia 6-1.

Hunter Goodman provided the 1 with a solo home run.

Starting pitcher German Marquez went 6 innings allowing no runs and struck out 4, but it was the bullpen that couldn’t keep things together.

Today is an off day for both teams.

Game 2 of the 3-game series will be played tomorrow.

Colorado Avalanche Hockey: The Colorado Avalanche lost last night at home vs. Calgary 3-2, losing in a shootout 1-0.

The Avs next play tomorrow at Chicago.
