Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The fall sports season has either started or is about to start in Wyoming, and even though it’s still summer, one winter sport is about to start play as well.

The Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey team started practice this past Monday, in preparation for the upcoming 2025-26 season.

Among the players returning from last season is 2024 Big Horn High School graduate Kiefer Dunham, who says there’s a good number of players returning from last season, and the experience they bring has the potential to pay off.

Sheridan placed 2nd last season in the NA3HL Frontier Division, but was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.

Head Coach J.J. Santagata is also back with the team, which has 2 weeks to prepare for their first game.

He explains what needs to be accomplished in practice between now and then.

The Hawks will play an inter-squad scrimmage this coming Saturday at 7:30pm at the M&M Center.

The event is free and open to the public.

Sheridan will play their first 6 games of the regular season on the road, beginning on Friday and Saturday, September 5th and 6th at Rapid City.

The home opener is on Friday, September 26th at home vs. Rapid City.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: Sheridan and Buffalo are back in action both today and tomorrow.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs play at Gillette, while the Bison and Lady Bison are at Worland.

Tongue River and Big Horn will host a 1-day meet tomorrow at Kendrick Golf Course, beginning at 9am.

University of Wyoming Football: It’s Game Day for the Wyoming Cowboys.

The Pokes kickoff the 2025 season at Akron beginning at 5pm.

Taking a look at the Zips, their quarterback Ben Finley who is a redshirt senior, threw for more than 26-hundred yards last year, as well as 16 touchdowns and 9 interceptions.

Cowboy Head Coach Jay Sawvel says his style of play could expose a weakness that the Brown and Gold defense had last year.

Finley’s numbers on the ground may not show it, but he can be elusive.

You can hear today’s game LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Football: Big Horn will play in a scrimmage today in Casper against the Natrona County sophomores, starting at 6pm.
