Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball: The Sheridan Troopers Legion Baseball Team concluded the regular season last night with a double-header sweep at home against the Billings Expos.
Scores were 5-2 and 5-zip.
Head Coach Austin Cowen says although the games were a tuneup for the state tournament, the Troopers took the approach that it was the state tournament.
Now it’s time for the State AA Tournament which begins Monday in Cheyenne.
Sheridan will play the first game of the day at 9:30am against Laramie.
After that, it’s Gillette vs. Rock Springs, Casper vs. the Cheyenne Hawks, and Cheyenne Post 6 vs. Jackson.
The state champ qualifies for the AA Northwest Regional Tournament, which will be played in Billings.
Sheridan Jets Legion Baseball: The A-State Tournament starts today in Thorne Rider Stadium.
First round games start today as 2-time defending champ Powell takes on Torrington, starting at 10am.
Wheatland goes up against Lovell at 1pm.
At 4 o’clock it’s the Casper Drillers vs. Riverton, and then the Sheridan Jets play the nightcap at 7pm vs. Cody.
Shane Parker will have the LIVE radio play-by-play of the game between the Jets and the Cubs on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.
The double-elimination tournament is scheduled to run through Monday.
The State Champ automatically qualifies for the A-League Northwest Regional Tournament in Burley, Idaho.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won 2 out of 3 games at home vs. St. Louis, winning yesterday 6-zip.
Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo home run to provide insurance.
Thanks to yesterday’s win, the Rocks ended a modern day Major League record of 220 games in between shutout wins.
The last time Colorado won a game via shutout, was in May of last year.
Today is an off-day on the schedule and tomorrow the Rockies start a 6-game road trip with 3 games at Baltimore, followed by 3 games at Cleveland.
