Tongue River HS Football: While a phoenix may be a mythical creature, the Tongue River High School football team is looking to rise from the ashes of last year’s Elk Fire that had an impact on their season.

Practice started yesterday for all Wyoming non 4A High School teams, which includes TR.

Players can’t put the pads on until Thursday.

Last year, the Eagles went 2-6 and missed the playoffs.

One of those losses was a forfeit, due to complications from the Elk Fire, which got within 6 miles of the school, causing classes and all athletic competitions to be canceled for most of that week, practice included.

Head Coach Steve Hanson says one of the goals this year for the team is to have at the very least, a normal season.

TR plays one week from this coming Satuday at Sheridan against one of the Broncs’ JV teams.

The home opener is on Friday, September 5th vs. Thermopolis.

Sheridan HS Football: The team is now in week 2 of practicing in preparation for the season.

Last week was mostly conditioning work, and players were able to put the pads on back on Thursday.

Senior Keegan Rager says this week the team will start putting the playbook together and figure out what works.

The Broncs are scheduled to kick-off the 2025 season one week from this coming Friday at Cheyenne South.

Sheridan HS Tennis: Sheridan will play its home opener today in a non-conference dual vs. Laramie.

Match time is at 10am at the recently renovated tennis courts behind the school building.

The Broncs and Lady Broncs start North Conference play on Friday at home vs. both Natrona County and Kelly Walsh.

Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies won the first game of a 4-game series last night at home vs. the LA Dodgers 4-3.

Ezequiel Tovar hit a solo home run in the 7th inning to tie the game at 3, and then Warming Bernabel’s walk off RBI single in the 9th won it.

With the win, the Rocks have tied their longest win streak of the season at 4.

The team will try to make it 5, as they take on the Dodgers again today starting at 6:40pm.
