Morning Sports: September 15, 2025
Sheridan HS Football: The Sheridan High School Football team was able to grind out a 34-7 win at home vs. Natrona County this past Friday.
Breck Reed scored 3 touchdowns, 2 on offense and 1 on defense to help lead the way.
Head Coach Jeff Mowry says it was a physical contest and in some ways, the Broncs beat the Mustangs at their own game.

Sheridan is now 3-0 on the season and up next is the big one on Friday at Cheyenne East.
The Broncs have beaten the Thunderbirds for the state championship in each of the previous 3 seasons.
Big Horn/Tongue River HS Football: Big Horn had no problems in their 2A East Conference opener, as the Rams went on the road and shutout Wheatland 59-zip.
BH is on the road again this coming Friday at Newcastle.
Tongue River played a close game at Burns, but came out on the short end of a 12-6 score.
The Eagles next play this coming Friday at Moorcroft.
Johnson County HS Football: Buffalo lost at Jackson last week 38-7.
The Bison are scheduled to play their home opener this Friday vs. Cody.
Kaycee had to forfeit their Friday home game vs. Burlington due to injuries.
The Buckaroos are scheduled to visit Midwest on Saturday.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Volleyball: Sheridan started off 4A East Conference play with a pair of 3-1 road wins against Cheyenne East and Cheyenne Central.
The Lady Broncs play their home opener this coming Friday vs. Cheyenne South, and will host Laramie on Saturday.
Big Horn and Tongue River each went 7-0 over the course of Friday and Saturday vs. various 2A West opponents at the Big Horn Invitational.
The Rams have this week off from competition, while the Lady Eagles are scheduled to play on Friday at Sundance and on Saturday at 3A Lovell.
Arvada-Clearmont went 2-4 at the Southeast Jamboree held at Lingle-Ft. Laramie.
The Lady Panthers are next scheduled to play tomorrow at Buffalo against a JV opponent, as well as Friday at home vs. Kaycee and on Saturday at home vs. Hulett.
Buffalo ended up going 0-5 at the Rawlins Invitational.
The Lady Bison are next scheduled to play Friday at Burns and on Saturday at home vs. Newcastle.
Kaycee also went 2-4 at the Southeast Jamboree over the weekend.
The Lady Buckroos are next scheduled to play on Thursday at Midwest, Friday at Arvada-Clearmont and on Saturday at home vs. Upton.

Sheridan/Johnson County HS Golf: Sheridan will represent at this coming weekend’s state meet.
The Broncs and Lady Broncs hosted the 4A East Qualifier Meet at Kendrick Golf Course.
The Sheridan boys placed 3rd and the girls were 5th.
At the Wright Invitational, Easton Lewis and Savannah Tremain of Tongue River finished 1st individually in the boys and girls competition.
In the team standings, the Lady Eagles were 1st and the Eagles were 3rd.
Elsewhere Buffalo was at the 3A East Conference Meet at Torrington.
The 2-day state meet is this coming Friday and Saturday.
The 4A meet is in Cheyenne, the 3A meet is in Cody and the 2A meet is at Douglas.
Sheridan/Johnson County HS Cross Country: Sheridan and Big Horn raced at a meet in Bozeman, Montana.
Bronc Freshman Eli Balkenbush placed 5th in the boys race, while Lady Ram Sophomore Lyla Marney was 6th for the girls.
The Sheridan boys placed 2nd in the team standings.

This coming Saturday is the Michelle Ludwig Invitational at the Sheridan VA Medical Facility.
The first varsity race is scheduled to begin at 11am.
Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks split a 2-game road trip at Gillette, winning on Friday 6-3, and losing on Saturday 2-1.
The team will conclude their season opening 6-game road trip this coming Friday and Saturday with games at Cody.
University of Wyoming Football: The Wyoming Cowboys lost at home on Saturday night vs. Utah 31-6.
The game was close in the first half as the Pokes were only trailing 3-nothing at halftime, but then things went south after that.
Terron Kellman scored the lone touchdown for the Brown and Gold, on a 15 yard run.
Quarterback Kaden Anderson was only 12 of 23 passing for 108 yards and threw 1 interception.
UW was only 3 of 12 on 3rd down conversions, while the Utes were 9 of 15.
Wyoming next plays this coming Saturday at Colorado.
Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15pm.
Denver Broncos Football: The Denver Broncos originally had yesterday’s game at Indianapolis won, but then the team was called for a leverage penalty, on what was a missed field goal by Indy, on the last play of the game.
The Colts were given a second chance, an extra 15 yards and they made the most of it, to beat the Broncos 29-28.
Quarterback Bo Nix was 22 of 30 passing for 306 yards and threw for 3 touchdowns.
Catching the TD’s were Marvin Mims Junior, Troy Franklin and Adam Trautman.
J.K. Dobbins also ran for a Denver score.
The Broncos only had 2 drives in the 4th quarter.
The first ended when Nix threw an interception and the other was a missed field goal by Will Lutz.
The Colts cashed in on both of the miscues with field goals, including the game winner.
Denver is now 1-1 on the season and are next scheduled to play this coming Sunday at the LA Chargers.
Kickoff is at 2:05pm.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies ended up losing 3 out of 4 games this past weekend at San Diego.
The Padres won on Thursday 2-nothing.
Colorado won on Friday 4-2.
Rookie Blaine Crim hit a 3-run home run and Kyle Farmer added in a solo shot of his own.
On Saturday, the Rocks lost 11-3 and lost yesterday 9-6.
In yesterday’s game Mickey Moniak hit 2 out of the park.
The first was a solo home run and the other was a 3-run blast.
Today is an off day on the schedule.
Tomorrow the Rockies will begin their final home stand of the season as they play 3 vs. Miami, followed by 3 vs. the LA Angels.
