Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team Splits Road Games Vs. Gillette; Prepare To Travel To Cody
The Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey Team split road games this past weekend at Gillette.
The team won the first game 6-2, and dropped the second game 2-1 in a shootout.
Head Coach J.J. Santagata says Sheridan has been peppering opposing teams’ goalies with shots, but sometimes either the players are trying too hard or waiting too long, and the trick is trying to find that middle ground.
“We’re just gripping the stick too much, taking too long to shoot, not very many back door opportunities. I mean when we’re getting 170 shots over 4 games and averaging 2.75 goals per game, it’s kind of glaring what the issue is right now, so hopefully that kind of leans towards going into our favor right now, but I mean we’re doing the right thing in terms of o-zone and generating opportunities, getting on top of pucks, recovering pucks, all those types of things, it’s just things aren’t going your way, when it’s resulting in pucks in the back of the net, so hopefully just, things change.”
The Hawks are scheduled to conclude their season opening 6-game road trip with games on Friday and Saturday (September 18th and 19th) at Cody.
The puck drops both days at 7:05pm.
