Sheridan HS Football Practice Starts: The boys of fall will emerge today!

Practice for the 4-time defending state champ Sheridan Bronc football team, as well as all teams in Wyoming Class 4A, starts this morning, in preparation for the 2025 season.

The team already owns the state’s longest winning and unbeaten streak in state history at 43, which is also the 5th longest active winning streak in the country for high school football teams.

There’s still a little more history that the team can go after.

One of those is the longest home winning streak in state history.

The Broncs have won 28 straight at home, which is tied for the 3rd longest home winning streak.

The team plays the 4-home, 5-away schedule this year with the home opener scheduled for Friday, September 5th vs. Thunder Basin.

Other home opponents include Natrona County, Cheyenne Central and Laramie.

The season opener is on Friday, August 29th at Cheyenne South.

All other classes of football start practice one week from today.


Sheridan County HS Golf and Tennis Start Practice: Practice for all classes of golf and tennis start today as well.

On the links, the Sheridan girls are last year’s 4A State Runners-Up, while the Tongue River girls were 3rd in Class 2A.

The Lady Broncs and the Broncs are scheduled to start competition this coming Thursday and Friday at Powell.

TR as well as Big Horn are scheduled to compete on Friday at Upton and on Saturday at Thermopolis.

As for tennis, the Sheridan boys are last year’s state runners-up.

Both the Broncs and Lady Broncs are scheduled to play on Saturday at a jamboree in Casper.

The home opener is 1 week from tomorrow vs. Laramie.

All other fall sports including volleyball, cross country and girls swimming can start practice one week from today.


Wyoming Legion Baseball: The season has come to an end for all Wyoming teams.

At the AA Northwest Regional Tournament in Billings, Gillette won their first 2 games, but then on Friday the team lost vs. Idaho Falls 7-5, and then they were eliminated on Saturday by Portland, Oregon 11-5.

Portland beat Idaho Falls twice yesterday to win the tournament.

Meanwhile at the A-League Northwest Regional Tournament in Burley, Idaho, Lovell lost in the 2nd round on Friday vs. Bitterroot, Montana 22-4, and then their season ended on Saturday vs. Ridgeline, Utah 16-9 in 9 innings.


Colorado Rockies Baseball: The Colorado Rockies lost all 3 games at Arizona this past weekend, and their skid has now reached 7 games.

Friday’s score was 6-1.

Saturday’s score was 6-5.

Brenton Doyle hit a 2-run home run in that game.

Yesterday’s score was 13-6.

Doyle hit his 2nd 2-run blast in as many games.

The Rocks start a 3-game series today at St. Louis.

First pitch is scheduled for 5:45pm.


Denver Broncos Pre-Season Football: The Denver Broncos would dominate the last 3 quarters, to win their first pre-season game of the season this past Saturday at San Francisco 30-9.

The backup QB’s accounted for 3 touchdowns.

Jarrett Stidham threw 2 of them.

One to Lucas Krull and the other to Trent Sherfield Senior.

Sam Ehlinger had the other one as he connected with Caden Prieskorn.

Kicker Will Lutz had 3 field goals to help the cause.

Denver’s defense held San Fran to 1 of 12 on 3rd down conversions, picked off 3 passes and recovered 1 fumble.

The Broncos’ next pre-season game is this coming Saturday at home vs. Arizona.
