Sheridan WYO Rodeo: Last night was the first rodeo performance of the Sheridan WYO Rodeo as the rough stock part of the competition got underway.
In the bareback riding there were a pair of 85 scores.
Caleb Bennett from Corvallis, Montana rode Little Lunatic and Jess Pope from Waverly, Kansas got the same score on Pick Up Sticks.
In Steer Wrestling, Will Lummus from Mississippi turned in the fastest time last night in 3.6 seconds.
In Steer Roping, Quay Howard of Canyon, Texas got the job done in 11.9 seconds at last night’s performance.
For the Women’s Breakaway Ropers, Amber Hutto from Texas beat the clock in 3.8 seconds.
For the Saddle Bronc riders, 5 cowboys got a score of 80 or better.
Leading the way was Canadian Jake Watson with a score of 85.5.
In Team Roping, Bodie Mattson of Sturgis, South Dakota and Trae Smith of Georgetown, ID clocked in at 5.6 seconds.
Two Texas tie-down ropers got the job done in 8.7 seconds last night.
They were Cory Solomon and Chisum Heath Allen.
For the Barrel Racers, Margo Crowther of Florida was able to turn 3 in 17.33 seconds and had the fastest run of the night.
Finally in Bull Riding, 2 cowboys made it to the 8 second buzzer.
Leading the way is Lukasey Morris from Oklahoma, who scored 88.5 points on Risky Business.
Slack action continues today at 8am, and the second rodeo performance is at 7pm.
Tonight is pink night.
The Sheridan Troopers are back in action at home today, as the team hosts the Cheyenne Hawks for a conference double-header.
While the Hawks may be considered the JV team for Cheyenne Post 6, they have wins vs. both Casper and Laramie.
Head Coach Austin Cowen says the opposition is better than advertised.
First pitch today is scheduled for 2pm.

University Of Wyoming Football: This week is Mountain West Conference Media Days in Las Vegas, as all Conference football coaches along with 1-2 players from the team chat with various media outlets.
Three Cowboys have earned pre-season honors.
Those three are tight end John Michael Gyllenborg and offensive guard Jack Walsh, who were named to the first team.
Defensive tackle Jordan Bertagnole from Casper was named to the pre-season 2nd team.
Yesterday, the media poll was released for the upcoming 2024 season and the Wyoming Cowboys were picked to finish 6th out of the 12 teams.
Boise State was once again picked first, followed by UNLV, Fresno State, Air Force and Colorado State.
Of those teams mentioned, the Pokes do not play the Rebels or the Bulldogs this season.
They play the Broncos and the Falcons at home and travel to Fort Collins.
A start date for practice has not yet been announced.
The 2024 season starts on August 31st at Arizona State and the home opener is on September 7th vs. Idaho.
Colorado Rockies Baseball: Last night the Colorado Rockies had a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the 9th inning at Cincinnati and held on to win 6-5.
Sam Hilliard hit a 2-run and a solo home run to help the cause.
The Rocks will try to salvage a 4-game series split today starting at 11:10am.
