Clearmont Historical Group Ice Cream Social

The sixth annual ice cream social and silent auction hosted by Clearmont Historical Group (CHG) was held on Sunday, August 2, from 11 until 2. The event is held each year in Branding Iron Park, and there are activities for the youngsters as well as free ice cream sundaes and enjoying the playground.

CHG president Robert Prusak talked about this year’s event.

The silent auction is a fund raiser for the Clearmont Historical Group to help the upkeep and maintenance on the Clearmont Historical Center and Museum.

Chip King, co-director at the Museum at the Bighorns attended the event and had this to say about what is happening at that Museum.

This exhibit will be up through the end of the year. He added that through August 31, there is free admission, thanks to the Scott Foundation.

There were a wide variety of silent auction items, including two replica bones from Ceaser, the Allosaurus that was unearthed near Buffalo, and is on display at Sheridan College, donated by Dave Nicolarsen of the Natural History Museum of Wyoming, located in the Mohns Center at Sheridan College.

There were gift baskets from Cindy Lee and Red Pony Salsa, merchandise from the Ucross Foundation, and even a kid’s silent auction table with coloring books, a frisbee and bubbles.

Clearmont Community Church Pastor Mark King was impressed with the items that had been donated, and Clearmont’s community spirit.

The day was hot, but a good crowd turned out to enjoy the ice cream, bid on the auction items, and enjoy visiting with their neighbors. The ice cream social was started in 2021 by Ira Roadifer, and has grown each year.
