Lumin Fire Update for August 3

Published

on

As of 10 a.m. this morning, August 3, Anita Bartlett, Public Information Officer on the Lumen Fire, said in a news release that the fire is currently at 7,285 acres. She said that with accurate perimeter mapping now completed, containment has increased to 58%. Forty fire personnel remain on the fire today, as they turn their focus from extinguishment strategies to fire-line rehabilitation.

Fire behavior on the Lumin Fire remained quiet yesterday, with minimal activity observed across the incident area. Operational work focused on strengthening control lines and patrolling interior pockets of heat, which helped keep the fire within its existing footprint. Weather conditions remained stable, and no additional fire growth has been reported.

With containment lines holding and no significant changes expected, the incident has reached a point where continued daily updates from the Wyoming Type 3 Incident Management Team are no longer necessary and will turn command of the fire back to the local Fire District at the end of shift today. The fire will now transition back to local authorities for any future needs.

Future information on the Lumin Fire will be provided by local entities. Please follow Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office (www.facebook.com/sheridancountysheriffwy) or Clearmont Fire Protection District (www.facebook.com/Clearmontfiredistrict) for ongoing public safety messaging related to the Lumin Fire.

The team extends its appreciation to Sheridan County, local fire districts, cooperators, and community partners for their support throughout this incident.
