SCLT is Gathering Stories to Preserve Sheridan County History

Sheridan Community Land Trust is compiling stories from Sheridan County residents. According to SCLT, the stories that shaped Sheridan County won’t last forever unless they are preserved today. Through its new Voices of Our History oral history program, the land trust is recording firsthand memories before they’re lost to time.

In a release, SCLT states they are gathering stories from the many walks of life but specifically looking for longtime farmers and ranchers, veterans with agricultural or ranching experience, and people connected to historic or conserved properties.

“This project is about more than preserving the past. It’s about giving future generations a way to understand it,” SCLT History & Outreach Assistant Kaitlin Shaw said. 

Interviews are relaxed, typically last 1–2 hours, and participants receive a digital copy of their recording. 

SCLT is asking the residents of Sheridan County to help ensure the people, places, and traditions that shaped the county are remembered for generations to come. Click here to learn more.
