A large crowd filled the gym at the Tongue River Valley Community Center in Dayton on Thursday night for the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce Candidate forum prior to the August 18 primary.

Teresa Detimore Chamber CEO, welcomed the crowd and thanked the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee for putting on the forums during the past week.

Several candidates ran unopposed, and in many races, there were only two candidates. There was a large field for the three open seats for the Sheridan County Commissioners, with seven candidates attending the forum. For Dayton council members, six candidates attended the forum, vying for the two open seats.

In addition to the county officials that will be on the primary ballot on August 18, there were candidates for Ranchester and Dayton Mayor, and Ranchester and Dayton Council members.

One candidate for State Senator in district 21, Melissa Butcher, and the two candidates for state representative in House district 51, Susan Bigelow and Laurie Bratten, attended at the forum.
