WIL Working to Make The Cowboy State More Accessible

Wyoming Independent Living (WIL) advocates for individuals with disabilities and community members from across the state.

According to Wyoming Independent Living, 1 in 5 Wyoming residents lives with a disability. Independent Living Specialist Cora Crecelius said access to communities is vital to residents living with disabilities who all too often feel isolated.

Wyoming residents are known for their rugged independence. Crecelius said residents living with disabilities are no different. But accessibility for those with disabilities can be very different. Although residents with disabilities and their support networks represent $1 billion in spending across the state, accessibility does continue to be a challenge for many. 

That’s why Wyoming Independent Living has begun an initiative promoting equality and inclusion across the Cowboy State known as WY ACCESS.   

Through WY ACCESS, WIL provides American with Disabilities Act (ADA) training and technical assistance advancing and promoting accessibility to businesses across eastern Wyoming. This training includes on-site accessibility assessments, guidance for solutions and removing barriers, custom training on the ADA and other accessibility related topics. WIL also offers promotion and celebration of businesses via WY ACCESS.
