According to Terra Power, the Natrium nuclear power plant is currently under construction near a retiring coal plant in Kemmerer, Wyo. Baldwin said the power plant and the University of Wyoming will work closely together on future research and pilot projects.

The major investment from the John P. Ellbogen Foundation will support nuclear energy instruction and the Nuclear Energy Research Center (NERC) in UW’s School of Energy Resources (SER). Another $1 million gift from Paul and Judy Lerwick will be endowed to create the Wyoming NOW (nuclear, onshore wind and more) Fund. This fund will also support research into many renewable forms of energy.
