In May of 2022 the Sheridan City Council approved a notice of termination of the contract with Rocky Mountain Ambulance after City Attorney Brendon Kerns said the current contract is not meeting the needs of the city or the service and the notice of termination was necessary so that the City could move forward with a Request for Proposals for a new contract.

That RFP closed on July 29, and the City received three proposals from AMR, Rocky Mountain Ambulance and Northeast Ambulance Service.

The current contract with RMA will expire Nov. 17. The City Council will receive recommendations from staff and have to consider the three proposals.

While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Sheridan City Council members Kristen Jennings and Jacob Martin told listeners the factors they consider when coming to a conclusion on which service to contract.

Martin said he tries to keep these processes simple.

Jennings told listeners she will be looking closely at the cost of the service to Sheridan residents.

In his report to the City Council and Mayor Rich Bridger, City Administrator Stu McRae said some additional questions need to be addressed before a recommendation can be made to the council. Listen to his comments here.

If cost is a priority, keep AMR out.
