Colorado Man Arraigned on Multiple Charges
A Colorado man was arraigned in Fourth Judicial District Court this week for multiple charges in relation to a crime spree in Sheridan County last fall. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, A report of a stolen 1986 GMC was called into the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office on September 17, 2025. That same day, the owner of the truck, Brent Ulman, located it traveling on I-90 and followed the stolen vehicle until it crashed into a ditch on Upper Prairie Dog Road in Sheridan County. When Ulman approached the vehicle, the suspect, later identified as Scooter Casey, exited the vehicle and proceeded to punch Ulman and slam his leg in the truck door. Casey then stole Ulman’s 2022 GMC truck and a 22-foot trailer and fled the scene.
Casey, also on September 17, is alleged to have stolen a generator and license plates off of a vehicle. Both of those alleged crimes occurred in the Bighorn National Forest. Casey was identified by the Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office with Wal-Mart receipts that were in a backpack that he had left in the stolen 1986 GMC. The Sheridan County Sheriff’s Office was later notified by Park County law enforcement that their suspect, Casey, had been arrested and sentenced to a year in jail for stealing an e-bike in Cody. Casey stole the e-bike the same day all of the alleged crimes occurred in Sheridan County.
Casey, at an arraignment hearing Tuesday in Sheridan County District Court, pleaded not guilty to one count of felony robbery, two counts of felony theft, one count of felony burglary and two counts of misdemeanor theft. District Court Judge Darci Phillips scheduled a five-day jury trial to begin on December 8. A pretrial conference will take place November 12 at 10 am. Due to the robbery charge and Casey’s six previous felony convictions, the prosecution has classified Casey as a habitual offender, which means if convicted, he could face the possibility of life in prison.
