Millicent Rogers

Millicent Muriel Frances Tschaepe Rogers, born on July 4, 1928, in mid-town Manhattan, New York City, passed away peacefully at her home in Sheridan, Wyoming, on March 10, 2025. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter, and a dedicated professional whose life was marked by service, education, and a deep love for her family.
Millicent was the cherished wife of Stanley James Rogers, MD, and the devoted mother of four children: Mila (Jay Stender), Stan Jr. (Steve Fagliarone), Diana (Bill Gray), and Ilona (Greg Manning). Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren—Stephanie (Brandon Penrose), Erika (Tanner Marlatt), Tealand (Marta Stender), Jada, and Mason—and five great-grandchildren: Breslan, Everett, MilaMarie, Carter, and Ella Capri.
Her early years in Manhattan were filled with cultural experiences and a strong family bond. Millicent’s passion for learning and dedication to service led her to a distinguished career in the U.S. Navy, where she served as a Navy nurse from 1948 to 1970, including multiple tours during the Korean War. She achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander (Major) in the Medical Service Corps.
Millicent’s pursuit of education was unwavering. She earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Columbia University, followed by dual master’s degrees in psychology and nursing from Columbia University and the University of Utah. Her academic journey also included teaching at Columbia University, the University of Utah, and Sheridan College.
Together with her husband, Stanley, Millicent co-founded the State of Alaska Psychiatric Institute in Anchorage, Alaska. In Sheridan, Wyoming, she established an associate degree nursing program at Sheridan College, which she directed for 19 years, leaving a lasting
impact on the community.
Millicent’s life was a testament to her dedication to family, education, and service. She will be remembered for her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to making a deference in the lives of others. Her family and friends will cherish her memory and the legacy she leaves behind.
A private family service will be held to honor Millicent’s life and contributions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s Hospitals or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in her memory.
