Kenneth Duane Wobig

Kenneth Duane Wobig, 82, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026, in Dayton, WY, at his home. Ken was born in Valentine, NE, to parents Albert and Alma (Jackson) Wobig on September 8, 1943. The family lived in Nebraska until the early 50’s, then moved to Wyoming. Ken went to various schools in Wyoming, graduating from High School in Casper, WY.

Kenneth was married to Carolyn Seigler, and they had a son Duane. Ken and Carolyn were later divorced. Ken was working for Gill Cattle Company at Parkman, WY, when he was drafted into the Army. He went to Texas for Basic Training and then served in Vietnam. He left Vietnam in a Medivac Helicopter to Japan, California and Denver for surgery and then home to Sheridan.

Ken was always a cowboy at heart! He went to work at the Moss Ranch on Pass Creek.   He married Sharon Tyler on February 14, 1969. Together they had Justin Wobig in 1970 in Hardin, MT, Tyler was born in 1973 in Gillette, WY, and Kendra in 1975. Ken went to SD to saddle making school in Rapid City in 1972, after completing that the family moved to Gillette, WY. His partners Ed and then Joe operated E&K Saddlery in 1980. Ken wanted to get back to cowboy life and bought a place on Pass Creek. He worked for various ranches and had shops in Ranchester and Sheridan. He moved to Dayton in 1991 and took up making log furniture. He did that until his health caused him to retire. 

Ken is survived by his wife Sharon, his sons; Dwayne Ryan and Justin Wobig, and his daughter Kendra West, grandchildren: Anya Wobig, Delane Jensen-Adam, Blake Zastrow, sister-in-law’s: Beverly (George) Garcia, Melody (Marvin) Davis, Barbara (Tom) Bogunavich, their families, sister-in-law Christine Tyler, and several nieces and nephews.

Ken is proceeded in death by his parents, stepson Travis Small, son Tyler Wobig, brother and sister-in-law Orville and Jeanetta Wobig, sister and brother-in-law Jeannine and Charles Brown, niece Debora Wobig, brother-in-law Don Tyler, and sister-in-law Linda Slovack.

Ken will be remembered for his “crazy fun personality”, and the way he was always cutting up with family and friends. He was very close to and loved his sisters-in-law.
