Two saddle bronc riders and one bull rider have been representing Sheridan College on the big rodeo stage.
Clancy Glenn, Joseph Priebe and Wyatt Phelps have been competing at the 2023 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper.
All competitors are guaranteed three rides in their respective event, and the top 12, total on three, are invited back for the championship short-go.
In the saddle bronc event, Glenn turned in scores of 71.5, 61, and had a no-score on his final ride.
Priebe had scores of 64.5, 68, and a no-score.
Both are out of the top 12, and will not return for Saturday’s championship short-go.
In the bull riding, Phelps has had 2 no scores and 85.5, which was the winning score in round 2.
Despite only going 1-for-3 on his bull rides, he has a great of chance of returning for the championship short-go, because he sits in 3rd place, but that won’t become official until Friday night (June 16th).
As of the end of Thursday’s rodeo (June 15th), 1 rider has ridden twice and another has ridden 3 times.
Phelps has the highest score of those who have 1 bull ride so far, regardless of what round it was in.
In round 1, only 2 of 32 cowboys made it to the 8-second whistle.
In round 2, 4 cowboys made it, with Phelps being one of them.
Mid-way through round 3, only two have succeeded, meaning there’s only been total of 8 successful bull rides this week.
