Lula Wagoner

Funeral services for Lula Wagoner, 84-year-old Johnson County Resident who passed away quietly at her home south of Buffalo, will be held Tuesday, February 18^th at 10:00 a.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo. Pastor Ray Jenkins will officiate. Visitation at the funeral home chapel will be held Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.  Interment at the Willow Grove Cemetery will follow the funeral, with a private family graveside service. Donations in Lula’s memory may be made to the St. Francis Animal Shelter in care of the Harness Funeral Home, 351 N. Adams, Buffalo.  Online condolences may be made at www.harnessfuneralhome.com

Lula Mae Wagoner was born on February 24, 1935, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Tom and Goldie Dixon.  She grew up on the Flying E Ranch east of Buffalo and went to school in Buffalo, graduating from the Johnson County High School with the class of 1953. Lula was married in May of that same year to William Ray Wagoner.  Bill and Lula made their home at Powder River Ranch, where they raised Rita and Tom. Bill and Lula later divorced. She re-married Del Jenkins in May of 1992. Del and Lula lived on Powder River Ranch until they retired in October of 2011 and moved to their home on Crazy Woman Canyon Road.  Del and Lula lived on Crazy Woman until her death.

Lula was very creative. She loved gardening, building rock walls, and constructing massive Cottonwood windbreaks. Her passion above all else was ranching and caring for her animals. 

She was an astute student of Black Angus genetics and took great pride in her herd of Black Angus Cattle.  Lula also loved reading scriptures and was a life-long student of natural remedies and holistic medicine. She is survived by her husband Del Jenkins of Buffalo; one daughter Rita Long and her husband Bryan of Buffalo; one son Tom Wagoner and his wife Toni of O’Brien Texas; four grandchildren, Zane Wagoner and his wife Marcie of Gillette, Wendy Greenough and her husband Ben of Buffalo,  Bryna Lyon and her husband Jade of Arvada and Angela Long of Buffalo;  and two great-grandchildren Colt and Case Wagoner.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two half-sisters.
