Sheridan HS Basketball – 4A State Tournament: The Sheridan Lady Broncs will tip off the 4A Girls Tournament and begin their state title defense at 9am today at Casper College.

For the third time this season, they will take on Natrona County who they beat twice in as many weeks back in December at Casper.

Lady Bronc Head Coach Ryan Sullivan says that was 3 months ago, and explains how much the Fillies have changed between then and now.

As mentioned, the Sheridan girls get the first game of the day today, and the boys get the last game of the day.

The Broncs tip off at 8:30pm against Star Valley.

These 2 teams did not play each other during the regular season.

Head Coach Jeff Martini says after missing out on the state tournament the past 2 years, Sheridan’s in an unfamiliar spot of celebrating a regional championship and preparing for an opponent that the team has not seen this season.

You can hear both the Broncs and the Lady Broncs basketball games LIVE on AM 1410 KWYO and 106.9 FM.

Buffalo HS Basketball – 3A State Tournament: Also this weekend, the 3A State tournament is going on.

All of those games today will be played at the Ford Wyoming Center.

The Buffalo girls and boys will play in back-to-back games starting at 10:30am vs. Cody.

Sheridan Hawks Junior Hockey: The Sheridan Hawks host Great Falls today in Game 1 of their best of 3 series in the NA3HL Frontier Division Playoffs, starting at 6:30pm.

Game 2 is tomorrow at Great Falls, starting at 7:05pm.

If Game 3 is needed, it will be played on Sunday in Sheridan, beginning at 1pm.

As for the other Frontier Division playoff series, Rapid City surprised defending champ Helena last night winning 5-4.

Game 2 is tomorrow at Helena, and if needed, Game 3 will be played on Saturday, also at Helena.

University of Wyoming Basketball – Mountain West Conference Tournament: The Wyoming Cowboys found themselves down 12-zip early on against San Jose State, and trailed by as many as 22 points several times in the first half.

UW would cut the deficit to 3 late in the game, but could not complete the comeback and ended up losing 66-61 in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament in Las Vegas.

Jordan Nesbitt led the Pokes with 16 points, while Obi Agbim put in a dozen and Cole Henry added in 11.

The Brown and Gold conclude the season with a record of 12-20.

One last note to mention for the Cowboys, Obi Agbim was named the Mountain West Conference Newcomer of the Year and was named to the All Mountain West Third team.

This season he ranked 4th in the conference in scoring with 17.8 points per game.

He also leads the conference and is 9th in the country in 3-point shooting at 44.4 percent.

As for the rest of the men’s Mountain West Conference tournament yesterday, 7-seed Nevada eliminated 10-seed Fresno State 86-71, and 6-seed UNLV did the same to 11-seed Air Force 68-59.

Today’s games have San Jose State against top seed New Mexico starting at 1pm, #4 seed San Diego State and #5 seed Boise State tip off at 3:30, Nevada goes up against #2 seed Colorado State at 7pm and UNLV takes on #3 seed Utah State at 9:30pm.

On the women’s side of the tournament, 4 quarters was not enough to contain the Wyoming Cowgirls and San Diego State in the women’s championship game last night.

The game went to 3 overtimes, and UW would come up short, 72-68.

If there was one weakness, it’s that going into the game, the ladies had the second worst turnover margin in the conference, and coughing up the ball 25 times against the Lady Aztecs did not make things any easier, as SDSU converted those turnovers into 20 points all together.

Melene Pedersen led UW with 19 points, while Allyson Fertig had a double-double, scoring 17 points and grabbing 18 rebounds.

McKinley Dickerson came off the bench to score 10.

Wyoming now has a record of 22-11 and probably will get some sort of post-season invite, but won’t know until Monday at the latest.

Both Fertig and Pedersen were named to the Mountain West Conference Women’s Basketball All-Tournament Team.

Denver Nuggets Basketball: The Denver Nuggets lost last night at home vs. Minnesota 115-95.

The Nuggets next play tomorrow at home vs. the LA Lakers.

Colorado Rockies Pre-Season Baseball: The Colorado Rockies scored at will yesterday as the team won at home vs. San Diego 13-2.

Sean Bouchard hit a 2-run home run and that was just 1 of 17 hits.

The Rocks next play today at home vs. Cleveland.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:10pm.
