Sheridan HS Football: When this past high school football season started, there was a lot of talk about the Sheridan Broncs threatening to break a record streak, and although the record has since been broken, the players and coaches say they’re happy the hype ended when it did.

The Broncs started the season with a 31 game win streak and the state record was 34 set by Laramie, who did it from 1959-1963.

Given what the schedule looked like early on, other teams, coaches and some media were questioning as to whether Sheridan was going to break the record.

Senior Breck Reed said the team had heard all the talk long before practice for the season started, and it was hard not to ignore it.

Once the Broncs officially broke the record, things settled down and the rest of the season went by in a normal fashion.

Head Coach Jeff Mowry says he noticed the difference in the team’s atmosphere once the record talk was silenced.

Sheridan’s new state record winning streak is at 43 games and could climb more next year.

Along the way, the team also broke the record for longest unbeaten streak.

There is 1 more record that is within striking distance for the Broncs.

It’s the record for longest home winning streak.

Sheridan has won 29 straight in their own backyard which is tied for 2nd longest.

The record is 31 set by the old Byron High School from 1953-1961.

The Broncs are now 4-time state champs, and they were also the last team to 4-peat, from 1990-1993.

University of Wyoming Football: The season is over for the Wyoming Cowboys, however in their final game, the Pokes did pick up some weekly awards.

Tyrecus Davis was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Last week at Washington State, the Senior tied a career high with seven tackles, all of them solo, including one tackle for a loss and had 1 interception.

Senior John Hoyland was named the Mountain West Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Last week he kicked 3 field goals to end his career with 73, which is the 3rd most in Mountain West Conference history.

In a story related to this past Saturday’s game, Washington State fired their defensive coordinator yesterday.

University of Wyoming Basketball: It wasn’t just the football players getting recognition.

UW Cowgirl Allyson Fertig was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week.

In the 3 games played in Puerto Rico, the senior averaged 19.7 points and 12.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as the team went 2-1 in games played.

The Cowgirls next play Friday at Missouri State.

Denver Broncos Football: The defense for the Denver Broncos ended up saving the game in last night’s Monday night football game.

With a little more than 2 minutes to go at home, the team was hanging onto a 34-32 lead, and Cleveland was marching, but Ja’Quan McMillian came through with a 44 yard pick 6 to ice the game, as Denver would win 41-32.

It was actually the second pick 6 of the game as Nik Bonitto ran one back 71 yards in the second quarter.

Quarterback Bo Nix was 18 of 35 passing for 294 yards, and 1 touchdown, but he was also picked off twice.

Catching the TD was Marvin Mims Junior on a 93 yard play early in the 3rd quarter.

Rushing touchdowns were scored by Javonte Williams and Michael Burton.

Will Lutz kicked 2 field goals to help the cause.

The Broncos are now 8-5 on the season and currently hold the final wild card spot by 2 games over Indianapolis, who just happens to be the next opponent on December 15th, however both teams will have this weekend off to prepare for each other.
