Kevin Murry Barnhart passed away from a ruptured brain aneurysm at Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD, on September 17th, 2024, at the age of 51.
Kevin was born November 5th, 1972, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Eugene Barnhart and Lorraine Clark. Growing up in Sheridan, he was raised by his parents and grandparents, Bud and Lucy Clark. His love and career in upholstery started with his dad and grandparents. Along with his brothers; Kenny, Todd and Timmey, he attended Sheridan High School before dropping out to join the U.S. Army. While in the army, he met the mother of his first son, Audra. Kevin started work for Cyclone Drilling in the early 90s. Soon after, he and Audra were married and welcomed Tarin Fahlberg into the world in 1995. Kevin attended some college in the years surrounding, and moved to Gillette, Wyoming, in 1998. This is where he met Carol, the mother of his second son, Devin Barnhart, born in 2002. Kevin then started work for LaDonna’s Upholstery in 2005. Living and working in Gillette, he formed relationships with many people and made his name in the world of upholstery. Mathew King, his third and final son, was born to Erin and him in 2012. Kevin started his road to addiction recovery soon after. Completing treatment in Sheridan, graduating from Drug Court in 2016 and graduating probation with no major incidents. Many say these were some of his happiest and fruitful years, gaining custody of Devin and Mathew through his journey to recovery. Kevin stopped working for LaDonna’s Upholstery in 2018. Thereafter, he spent the last of his years with his fiancé, Kera.
Kevin was stepfather to three of Carol’s daughters and grandpa to all her grandkids. He loved anything fun along with getting his hands dirty. Dirt biking with his sons, granddaughters and anyone who wanted to tag along was a great way of combining both. Kevin lived and breathed to benefit the world. He was very involved in the community and helped others to benefit their lives. Sponsoring recovery for N.A., A.A., and Sunrise Wellness and Recovery. It never mattered about someone’s appearance or history, if he knew a way to help, he would. From giving someone a ride in the winter or building a deck to help his family, Kevin never put down his heart of gold. There will be a public celebration of life held for Kevin on Thursday, September 26th, at 2:30 PM at the Cam-Plex Park Recreation Building, 2910 Doubletree Lane, Gillette, WY. Champion Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be written at www.championfh.com.

I’m sorry for your loss. I know Kenny Barnhart because he’s one of Dakota Trevino’s best clients that she works with.

Lorraine, I am sorry for your loss. My mom used to take care of you and your sister during the summer. It is most difficult to lose a child. Your family is in my thoughts & prayers.
